The Changing of the Gods

There’s a moment
   sad in a way
but happiness is
  the order of the day

There’s a moment
  when mom and dad
are no longer gods, though
  we’re not yet comrades…

There’s a moment when
yes, we’re glad in a sense, but
with all our foibles and flaws exposed ~
you and I, mom, our little lambs have deposed

One minute they want a tricycle, the next month they have their hand out for your car key.

You are right. I think the psychologists call ages 22-28 'Emerging Adulthood' now. What a country!

I love the commercial on T.V. that has an old lady telling her neighbor next door as she watches her grown son returning home again, "YOU WANT THE KIDS TO LEAVE HOME? STOP COOKING WITH CHEESE!" Since my girls all left and made homes of their own I have missed them terribly. A fine write my friend God Bless, JB
