The Challenge of Holidays

The Challenge of Holidays

Looking through the window
I see the fallen snow
Sparkling stars above us
Shine a special glow

Families inside the homes
Are filled with joy and glee
Making tasty dishes
Decorating trees

There’s a sense of comfort that permeates the earth
Spreading warmth and kindness
Season’s great re-birth

But nearly not everyone
Can take part in this affair
For some there’s company and friendship
For some, that feat is rare

The holidays, they join us
But there’s the great divide
The ones without companionship
They hide their pain inside

They look upon festivities
That this great season makes
And wonder if they can ever
Partake in what it creates

I hope that all the lonesome ones will join in the great Plan
‘Cause God intended others to share all that they can
And even if the forsaken can’t find another way
They still can help another get through another day

In this great time of wonder
Let us remember us
That have so very little
And let’s renew our trust
So everyone feels happy
And no one feels alone
And in God’s earthly paradise, we all can find a home

Yes, I feel this every holiday season since my son died. Wonderful poem and filled with the hope that everyone can find someone to share it with.
