The Cat In the Cage

The Cat in the Cage
By David J Walker

The cat in the cage
Paces carefully
Paw by paw
Up and down
By the bars
Waiting for
The door to open

The cat in the cage
Has yellow eyes
That hide nothing from
The golden sun
On the outside
Where he longs to be

The cat in the cage
Does not eat
As he lies in the shade
And pants for want of company
And something more
Then each day that
Dies before the night

Leaving him still
The cat in the cage

Poor cat, no cat or animal should be confined in this way. The stress is torture...a reality poem that is sadly very true, Emilia.

I think it reflects my spirit...all caged up. Thanks, Emilia
