The Castle of Wisdom Upon the Hill

[In Commemoration of the Founding of Northern Illinois University]

The castle of wisdom upon the hill
One hundred and twenty-five years ago
Was founded. And, it continues to still
Inspire those who surround it to know
That they all have future dreams to fulfill.
As young men and women vow their new pledge
To all change their futures for the better–
A river flows near the tall castle's edge.
It still welcomes new students to the pack
As they open an acceptance letter.
Crossing the grounds with books held in a sack,
They continue to make new friends and roam.
Proudly wearing colors of red and black,
They welcome this campus as their new home.
