The Capitol Attack

Three years ago today we watched
The Capitol attack
And what it made me understand
Is there’s no going back.

For though there always have been lies
In government, I saw
That there are many people who
Think they’re above the law.

And going forward, I’m afraid
That things will get much worse,
For anarchists have now have years
To gather and rehearse.

The lies of January 6th,
Which many still believe,
Are reinforced by those who yearn
To damage and deceive.

Marikate Kingston February 21, 2024 at 8:46 PM Such an unbelievably terrifying time in the history of the United States. I suppose our children's grandchildren will read about it history books. A dispicable person. Hopefully his sneakers won't sell. Lucky to presently have my own.

Hilda Greenhough January 6, 2024 at 9:29 PM I understood this poem. Sometimes a person has to leave the one he loves. For the sake of all, I will choose his twin who is very much like him but smarter. And it doesn't matter that my choice has a family that immigrated from India. I won't say who he is.
