The Cantebury Tale

I HAD A DREAM ABOUT HOW THE WORLD WOULD END
NOTHING THAT THE GREAT gods Of GREECE MAY DEFEND
TRUMPETS FROM THE HEAVENS HAD WARNED US TO REPENT
BUT THE LORD'S VOICE TO SINNERS IS SIMPLY LIGHTNING THAT MEN DETEST

I LISTEN TO THE RAIN AS I WATCH IT POUR
EACH DROP TELLS A TALE AS I OPEN THE DOOR
LETTERS FROM THE ENGINEER OF LIFE AND TIME
ENCRYPTED WITH NAMES YOURS AND MINE

I AM NO PROPHET I MAY BE A LIAR
BUT SUNNY DAYS AND CLEAR SKIES I DO DESIRE
NO MAN CAN WALK OUT HIS STORY AND RETIRE
AND IF MY WORDS CAUSE GRIEF TURN THE PAGE
OR SET IT ON FIRE

THIS IS NO POEM BUT A MILD TEMPERED LETTER
THAT COMETH FROM A POET BUT YOU AND I KNOW BETTER...
IF YOU BELIEVE IN JEHOVAH THEN SET HIGHER GOALS
HAVE FAITH IN HEAVEN AND HOLD ON TO YOUR SOULS

I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Have a blessed day.
