The Call To Preach

THE CALL TO PREACH The call to preach is special, not one to lightly take, You must keep it in focus each moment you’re awake. You must take time to study the word of God and pray And follow as He leads you each moment of the day. You must control your passions of evil lusts and greed And never doubt God’s promise to meet your every need. Be careful as you listen to those that you hear preach, And take notes as you follow from everything they teach. And school is so important when choosing where to go When you decide which college to help your knowledge grow. Don’t try to mimic others, just be yourself up there, And claim the Holy Spirit to help you as you share. And, yes, a marriage partner is most important, too, For one who stands behind you in everything you do. Remember as a preacher your life must blameless be And full of such compassion for others there to see. Build your life on God’s standards of separation strong, And don’t give into pressures to compromisers’ throngs. I know that God will use you if you’ll just keep Him first, And follow Him so closely, for better or for worse. I will be praying for you, what God has for you to do The call to preach is special!
