The Call of the Fray

Inspired by the poem "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight" by Dylan Thomas and the following quote by William Shakespeare: “When he shall die, Take him and cut him out in little stars, And he will make the face of heaven so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun.” - Romeo and Juliet The Call Of The Fray Beware the insidious light of day, As slumber plummets from a darkened height. Cast with great might the morn’s sunrise away. Only in dreams are you safe from the fray, Turn to these arms of caress and delight. Beware the insidious light of day. One gentle kiss upon lips will delay Incessant pleas of dawn’s meddling invite. Cast with great might the morn’s sunrise away. Entwined, we dance in love’s infinite sway On intimate sheets of a tender night. Beware the insidious light of day. Silhouettes merging in twilight’s array, Enslaved again by your magical sight. Cast with great might the morn’s sunrise away. Keep still, beloved, if I am to stay, Or this bouquet will fade with mournful plight. Beware the insidious light of day, Cast with great might the morn’s sunrise away. 15th November 2019 Midnight Aurora

Wow a sensational romantic poem wishing for the night of joy to continue and keep out the light of day. That refrain was cool. Your poem is awesome indeed. Glad to have met your poems. Kudos.

Words can ne'er express the talent you possess and the joy you bring to the reader of your golden pen. Mr. Webster could publish an encyclopedic volume of adjectives and not scratch the surface of your exquisite ability. And I see that this is echoed in all the responses you receive.

What a lovely comment. I never realised how many adjectives I used until I read this. Quite a few. I will be more aware of this in future so as not to go overboard..lol

This has a mystical feel to it, and the repeating refrains have a musical feel to it, so then to sum up, it's a mystical musical write (at least to me!) Loved it!!

That's the villanelle form for you-repetitive. I don't think I'll be writing in this form too much. But I don't feel I have conquered it yet so I might try again one day... in the very distant future...lol...thanks for your comment. Glad you liked it.

Thank you Vijay. Took a while to write this one. I found it quite restrictive.
