The Butterfly And Me
I sat down 'neath the leaves of an old Oak Tree
Just to enjoy Autumn's sweet breeze.
A Butterfly landed on my knee.
She was beautiful and fun to watch
As she flutterd by and danced around.
A lovely show did she put on.
Her gown was quite Colourful
And very attractive.
I didn't know if she could talk,
But I had to know her name.
So I asked her, "What is your name?"
She giggled in a small sweet voice
And said, "I'm Rachel, how about you?"
I was shocked, but managed to tell her,
"My name is Taylor."
If she were a woman,
I could fall in love with her easily.
Then I noticed long shadows approaching.
The sky grew slowly grey to dark grey.
Storm clouds were brewing overhead.
The lightning crashed and thunder roared.
All of this commotion scared my little Butterfly away.
Then it started to rain
But I was not getting wet.
Dry under the Old Oak Tree,
I sat there thinking about my beautiful Butterfly
For quite some time.
Slowly the day grew into night.
The dark clouds had disappeared.
There was a Full Blue Moon rising.
I was tired
So I took rest on a pile of old Oak Leaves.
I was awaken by my little Butterfly
Sitting upon my nose.
Then she rose up
And danced upon my head.
She was dressed in a gown of Blue, Green, Yellow and Red.
I thought, was this a dream,
Was I yet awake?
So I pinched myself.
Yes, I was fully awake!
My Butterfly had come back to me!
I decided to ask her, "How'd you get so lovely?"
She looked me straight in the eye, giggled and
In her small sweet voice she said, "There are but Thousands like me." Then she started to sing in an awesome, beautiful voice.
She sang a lovely sweet tune
And while I was watching her
The colours of her gown began to change and spin around.
I was Gobsmacked!
"Are you magical I asked?"
"Yes, she said with a laugh, "we are Fairy Butterflies."
"That's magnificent ", I replied.
She smiled and asked, "Aren't you gonna ask for three wishes?"
"Not really", I replied.
I would just ask for Peace, Love and Joy.
"A beautiful sentiment!" she cried.
The Sun was up and warm
So I asked her, "Would you like to take a walk with me?"
She laughed and said, "How would you like to take a flight with me?"
"Really?" I said.
And suddenly I was small with no arms and legs,
But I did have a nice set of wings.
Most beautiful wings of Purple and Gold.
I was honoured that she trusted me so.
We fluttered by, danced and flew about the woods for sometime.
We were both happy and falling in love.
It was then that trouble reared it's ugly head.
Rachel got caught in a Spider Web
And the Spider was crawling her way.
But I could not free her from the web as a Butterfly.
"I have to return to Human form," I cried.
"If I don't, you will die!"
If you do, you won't be able to turn into a Butterfly again," She said in a very shaky voice.
I had to take the chance.
The Spider was attacking her!
I willed myself back into Human form, killed the Spider and rescued Rachel from the web.
As I held her in my shaking hands
She was trembling too.
She looked up at me and sighed, "Thank you my love, but now you're stuck as a Human forever.
"Not so fast," I said.
"I never asked you for a wish."
She looked at me with a solumm face and said, "Would you really want to waste a wish on me?"
In a heartbeat," I replied!
And then I found myself a Butterfly again.
It was then that we hugged and kissed.
I knew that this was bliss.
We knew that we were made for each other, to
To dance together in love's light forever...
