The Brothers of Brother Martin High School

The thought that struck deep inside me Was cauterized by waves of light That small stage and roomfull of boys The candleless moment of psalm Within deep velvet walls we stood The thought that struck deep inside me How a life can be lead by you The leader, running off with a Burning bible and wings for feet Addressing all living things aft The thought that struck deep inside me In a room with a white-collared man "Make it your own," he declared soft Like the bite of an old man zen- -Hovering in mid-grace above The thought that struck deep inside me

Such a somber mood you create in the first verse, Matt. "Make it your own" seems like very wise advice from a man who had a atremendous impact on the "roomful of boys." Like the way you take the thought and run with it! Love, Carolyn
