The Brothers

The brothers coil around each other Like make-believe children. They dance in their fantasies While it gets darker still in the morning, When none of them faltered, felt tired, When the memory of when and where one soul ends and another begins unglues.

Matt, This one caused pondering. The phrase ...brothers coil... makes me think of deep love. Love that strong could apply in an extended view not only to a natural brother, but to friends and perhaps a lover as well. I enjoyed the way you brought us through the idea of fantasy. Memories of this past "coiled" (strong) love makes one fall apart..."Unglued"... because the love is a fantasy, no longer, if ever, real. This poem is stunning and thought provoking. Excellent write. With Love, Dane

Very intriguing, Matt. I'd like to know if you were writing about your own brothers. Love the kindred spirit evoked in the last line -- quite a striking reflection on the family bond. Great work! Love, Carolyn
