The Broken Flight

Am I truly flying?
Or am I falling,
With torn and broken wings?

Landing for a brief moment
Near what seemed my sanctuary,
To tend to my little ones,

I drifted into a deep, heavy slumber.
When at last I awoke,

My babies
Were already gone.

Am I truly flying?
Or am I falling,
With torn and broken wings?
