The British

I wonder, as we near the 4th of July, If the British take note, with a sonorous sigh, Regretting the fact of the colonies lost All those long years ago at a terrible cost. In light of political forces today, I think it’s more likely that what they would say Is, “Whew! We were lucky we cut off those ties And we thought that their accents were all to despise!”

You're probably right... And anyway, we'd never have been able to bring ourselves to say, "Long live the Queen!" :) gw

Ha ha ha Ilene sure made me giggle. On 5th July we celebrate our own national day - Twynwald Day at times I am very glad we are not part of Britain! As for what state the USA is makes me glad we are far removed fro that too. To the Brits a fart is known as a Trump... think that says a lot lol:-) hugs Jan xx

I wonder about this, too, Ilene. But I doubt the British people care though a few diehard historians may still be grieving. Food for thought poem. / M
