The Bracelet

Remember when
We went for a long walk, just you and me
Leaves falling down ever slowly
I loved spending time with you
Every moment
Walking and talking and sharing everything

Gifts are a sign of friendship and love
You take it quite seriously
But I offer you love from the heart
The jewel on your wrist only proves
That you belong to me no more

Look me in the eyes
You never take it seriously when it is just you and me
You thought you were in love but you were not
Not even close, you see
One single moment
Left me alone out of pure generosity
Huh.

Oh please
Be for real, now
Were you not a little self-seeking
Not quite ready
Do you know what love is
Look at your wrist
It is the reflection of a bitter slap in the face
