The Boy Who Is a Man
I felt pride tonight
I read of someone
Who saw no wall
He saw no obstacles
He saw only a deviation
In which he found resolution
Over come with grief
He found motivation
He suffered through pain
But persevered
This boy was more of a man
Than any man defined by age or means
I felt pride tonight
And gave thanks as well
Pride in the person
Thanks to many people and to God
They all performed for him, to help him
He performed for them in return, to help others
Joe, I felt pride tonight as I read
How this boy who feared losing his dreams
Overcame everything and became a person
That helps others not lose their dreams
Joe, I gave thanks tonight as I read
How you fought and kept hope
How others helped you
And how they were guided
I feel pride as I also feel love
In you and for you
I give you respect for your achievements
And the man that you are at sixteen
