The Boy Who Had to Rhyme

No one knows what he had done,
but the curse could not be undone.
Could it be, when he was a child,
by some witch, he was beguiled?
Bound, he was, to a life of insanity,
relegated to mindless inanity.
Whatever was his awful crime,
he could only speak in rhyme.
What makes it so much worse
is that he cannot write free verse.

Haha, it could be that in my deep subconscious, I was thinking of myself. It sounds like me, I admit / but, anytime I wanted, I could quit.

Ha! I actually did a forty thousand word children book in all rhyme dialogue and decided to trash it and start all over with normal dialogue. It was so freeing. Pity your poor chap

It's an addiction. You must have had nightmares with that rhyme scheme. With free verse, there's a pressure to actually have something to say.
