The Boy and the Storm
THE BOY AND THE STORM
A little boy went with his dad into the town one day,
His father told him of the things he’d do along the way.
“I need to stop here at this place for business I must do,
Now you stay here and wait for me, and I’ll come back for you.”
The little boy sat on the step and waited patiently,
Then suddenly the sky grew dark; a storm he soon would see.
The wind began to blow and then the rain began to fall,
The little boy heard folks nearby as they began to call,
“Come over to this shelter, son where you’ll stay warm and dry!”
“No, I must wait here for my dad; he’ll be here by and by.”
The others laughed as he sat there, now soaked by falling rain,
But soon the storm began to end; his father came again.
He saw him there, all soaking wet, then held him in his arms
So proud his son obeyed his voice though he had faced such harm.
The lesson that this story tells to us on earth today
Is though our Savior now has gone to heaven far away,
He’s left us here to wait for Him through struggles, storms, and strife,
No matter who may laugh or mock for giving Him our life.
For when the storms of life are o’er and we stand face to face
Before His holy judgment throne and see Him in that place,
If we’ve obeyed through all life’s storms and to have Him have stayed true,
He’ll say, “Well done, my precious child, I’m very proud of you!”
