The Boy and Girl

The boy outside
Tried to hide from the girl outside
Before they were called to get into the car
And take a ride

Their Mom and Dad were going somewhere
They shrugged their shoulders before getting in the car
The look on their faces read that they didn’t care
They wanted to play and play until a new day

Their mom waved to me and their dad gave me a nod
The boy and girl looked out the window
As the boy led the squad

The little girl waved and the boy shook his head no
So she licked out her tongue
And I said “Oh”

The little boy laughed and the little girl continued
To be naughty
I stared at her out of curiosity
Remembering that I was once like her

Their dad drove off
And they all waved bye to me
Some behavior is just transferred
Which, took me years to see
