The Blessing
But, “God bless you,” she says
And what can I say?
For me, there is no god
No celestial spirit that has made the stars and can bless me.
But, “God bless you,” she says
I have been godless all my life. God is not part of my essence.
But, “God bless you,” she says
I have looked for god and gods and have not found it and do not want to find it.
But, “God bless you,” she says, “God bless you,”
I understand this sincerity and respect it.
But I don’t want a deep discussion.
She doesn’t want a discussion.
All I can say is, “Thank you.”
