The Bleeding Hearts

The Bleeding Hearts
By Kevin Robey
August 23, 2014

Is it real or is it fake?
The high, bright lines of my mistakes?
Is it fate or circumstance
That brought an end to this romance?

Have you seen the ugly truth?
Forgotten dreams left in our youth
Then you'll know the things I see
All the things we'll never be

We write it off cause life's not fair
The saddest ones, we're self-aware
Falling short of who we are
The carrot chase is way too far

Is it right, or is it wrong?
To never sing, we cry along
Are we fact or fallacy?
Too many things we'll never be

The bleeding hearts will never stop
With every tear we never sought
But we will find the brightest lights
The beacons through the darkest nights
