Notes About The Poem

The Blank Page

This is what a blank page looks like
So empty, stark and white
A large expanse of nothingness
With words I could not write

A page that might be plain or lined
Or filled with words I failed to find
A page o’er which my fingers race
To leave a vast expansive space

A night awake with pen in hand
A chasm I don't understand
Yet still I seek some words to borrow
Perchance I’ll find some here tomorrow

Methinks that page has been filled quite satisfactorily, Terry!

Actually wrote this during my recent extended block (which it remains to be seen if I’m out of it) but it needed a tweak. Glad you enjoyed, Ilene

I've got plenty of them at the moment Terry, working on one as we speak, hopefully it won't be blank. Enjoy your weekend. Tom

That blank screen/page does appear to glare at me with much disdain… but now I know it’s mocking me, my life is complete. Thanks, John… for nothing! HaHa… just kidding. Terry

Hi Terry. Stop searching so relentlessly. Listen to a song and gather inspiration from its lyrics to begin. It's only the first line that needs to be written and the rest will flow. Perhaps the tomorrow that you await will be today. I hope you've been well.

Wrote this during a block that I hope I’m now out of. Thanks for dropping by. Terry
