The Black Swan

The silent swan glides Her plumage falls softly in The ripples of tossed coins Far from the fountain's edge Where lost promises linger In the fading dusk of night Unnoticed, she takes flight Leaving behind a trail of Black feathers drifting on The tranquil water's flow Her departure, a whispered Goodbye in the still air,Where fond affection once blossomed , amidst the fragrance of yellow lilies and forgotten dreams Her reflection, a final Farewell in quiet memory, As she fades away, unseen. Forever Unseen.

Dear Charmaine, Just looked around PS and found your poem, which is breathtaking, hauntingly beautiful, delicate yet powerful. I loved how the imagery of the black swan, the lingering promises, and the quiet farewell stirred something deep within me. A truly mesmerizing piece. Absolutely stunning! I popped back into PS for a while, hoping to see some I trust still here. So, of course, this is one of my stops. I hope you are and have been okay Charma.

You’re back and you’ve learnt weight of tongue has picked up a lot of vernacular and expressers. The ambient undertone is very you. The richness of descriptions just to relish the undying truth that a portrayal of your truth or suffering has its appearance some way or another. Is this poem influenced by the movie? Is this you? Is this a shade of you? I begin to wonder but smile. I hope to read more of your work.

Charmaine, A very thoughtful poem you did. This reflects my own view that we only have this one life, and we all vanish in the end. There's a joy and sadness to life, and you capture it with such poetic elegance. This poem lets us all know that we should make the most of the time we have...something important that all of us need to remember. BTW, I really appreciate that you commented on my work. I always feel a bit funny when reading a poem like this because I wonder what feelings inspired it. I hope you are well indeed and thanks for making me smile. It's a brief but wonderful "high" from reading and responding to your work.

"a final farewell in a quiet memory" Memories never fade away, they just fade into the scenery, the background of our lives, the things we see from the corners of our eyes when we aren't even looking and every once in a while they pop up with, hopefully, a smile in sweet remembrance. I always enjoy reading you.

Easy to visualize. Swans are poetic creatures and the wishing well pond adds a certian flaver. I think your dry spell is over.

Charmaine it is so nice to see you posting.. This is so deep and tender.. Your poem is beautifully crafted on loss and the quiet, often unnoticed moments of departure that mark our lives. The imagery of the swan, the tranquil setting, and the themes of forgotten promises and fading memories combine to create a poignant and reflective piece. The silent grace of the swan’s glide and the melancholic tone invite readers to ponder the transient nature of beauty and affection, making the poem a deeply moving and contemplative read..

Dear Charmaine, such an exquisite, tender read that really pulls at the heartstrings. Such beautiful imagery here with the black swan who can be visualised so easily from your lovely poetic words. She glides into the readers affections. So sad :( as she says her final, lonely goodbye and only prove of her existence being left behind are her fallen feathers. The last few lines are heart - rending. A beautiful, graceful write from your talented pen. Loved it. Thank you for sharing. X
