The Bitter Truth
Walked to the bathroom
Gave the mirror a grin
Used to be a narcissist
Was that a sin?
Used to be a slob
Used to be out of control
Sunk in the mire
And it's taken its toll.
Behavior caught on digital bytes
I'll be immortal for 100 years
I made myself into a sight
Unkind people gave me jeers.
So was the truth really worth
that such a movie became loose?
Recognized across the earth
Like being trampled by a moose.
I couldn't get a job because an employee
felt sorry for herself
Saw my act in that movie
Told her boss, job off the shelf.
In one job that I did land
An unknown woman called me "Hebe".
My code was sabotaged by a merry band
Before I left, one poisoned my tea.
I feel guilty to be seen
with family or with others
A woman out loud says I'm obscene
Inside, my volcano smothers.
Can't make friends, not fair to them
Can't join a hiking group for a day
I get locked in a mental hospital when:
I talk about this nightmare in the USA.
But it gets worse, so hard to believe
Criminals get in the act too
So skepticism is more than my peeve
It becomes an issue for all of you.
Quietly, behind the scenes
Science's bad side can creep
Drugs that can make a zombie
Drugs that can put you to sleep.
Criminals found these drugs and more
They got my keys, entered my home
No closing Pandora's door
Once they fixate on you, hearts like stone.
See crime isn't just about money
It's about many other things too
This movie ends with my parents hurt
A horror plot that came true.
But the horror plot extends
Across the once free West
Next time your morals bend
Restraint might be best
The bitter truth is my behavior
But it's also folks who threw rice at the screen
In the face of science there's no savior
We're all in this bad dream.
The plot keeps thickening.
The movie's definitely sickening
But there was a desire to be weird
I didn't think how it appeared.
I no longer feel like acting that way
The mirror image shows nothing great
I rebound to normal, but I'll pay
for the images that resonate.
Consequences were bigger than me
The surreal grasped my family
There must be victims of drugs galore
Not knowing what collapsed their floor.
You can be an open-air slave in the land of the free.
Those platitudes become mockery
When warnings are unheeded, evil grows
The extent already reached, nobody knows.
