The Birthday Offering

The immortal masterpiece

Designed in absolute bliss.

''The stream of love

Murmur into soft music.''

When at the end of the day

The weight of the coffins fell where I lay

Thy mercy brought me to thy door-

My fevered forehead was caressed

By thy affectionate touch.

And my arid heart

Calmed by thy honeyed words.

Those memories are wafted today

On thy birthday.

Empty is my hand

To repay you enormously today

I have only these verses and good wishes

To sing in delightful tunes and sweet kisses.

This is my humble offering

I have no other precious thing

I bow down to you Mother

Again and again at your feet.
