The Big Boys and Their Toys

The big boys and their toys
By Stanley Russell Harris
The new mad author
& A Poetry Soup honourably mentioned poet

The big boys have their toys out.
As politicians begin to shout!
Their views on subjects big and small!
They have a view of them all.
Of course, not all will agree.
As you may not agree with me!
But as a poet I don’t care.
As these are only words at which to stare.

I have had toys in the past.
Pulled a trigger, caused a blast.
And if it was you in my view!
It might have been farewell to you.
So boys and girls, men, women too.
A word of advice for all of you!
Keep your finger of that trigger.
And live life as all could grow bigger.

Sorry, that last line was best I could do.
But really peace is down to you!
And that’s the truth, I’m telling you.

Poem inspired by the British Army being on exercises on the border of Russia. March 2017.
