The Better Choice

Lashed by rain
I sheltered
beneath
its wind bent
height
in its hurl
of leaves
and whip slap
of bark
against
a huge trunk
below
its creak
and rising
roar
to a sudden
crack
in fear
the better
choice
would have been
to get wet.
