The best me

Was my past The best I'll ever be? But it ended so fast, You hardly got to know me. Maybe my youth Was my best trait. But that's a damning truth, And and the cruelest of fates. Was it my naivety then That made me shine so bright? All the way back when I hadn’t felt the darkness of night. I should've soaked in the scene When I was still at the top Maybe I would've seen, It's a long way to drop Now all that I do, Is hope I’ll go back. But with all I've been through, I'm afraid now there's too many cracks.
