The Best Gift
I remember that time
twenty-five years ago,
as we gathered around the fire
drinking hot chocolate at the right temperature
and presents perfectly wrapped without flaw.
The best of the best you've given me, dad,
was that hug you gave me.
It was gentle like heaven
with your otherworldly love,
so deep my heart melted ever so slowly.
It's a memory I can't discard,
so please,
come over next time we meet.
