The Best Blessing
Breathing, sentient and aware
Encased in feeble organic form
Soul presence yet feels confined
In bondage to fears and desires
Discontent with the ephemeral
Yearning for joy in permanence
But knowing not how to proceed
Gift of life once boon, now bane
Earth's rotation, sunrise, sunset
Beauteous moon in the night sky
Ebb and flow of tides, seasons
God's creation, sacred geometry
Signalling there is order in chaos
As above, so below, we presume
Why then is our heart discontent
We hear invisible space chuckling
Discarding all that that's transient
We plunge headlong into the void
Negating doership, belief, knowing
Abiding in thought rested stillness
In gratitude for this too is by grace
Enabling our free will to so choose
To be quiet, restful, in tranquil calm
The universe disappears but we are
Awareness, self-aware, a bliss hum
Entwined with soft white living light
Self-existent, luminous, omnipresent
Within which the world is contained
By the vital life force of God Himself
Which we too are as we so become
One with God, as His luminescence
Truly a blessing, to imbibe this truth
