The Best At His Worst

.

The shrewder one
  may yet triumph
       tonight

in this maddening
      heat of the
       prizefight

where ferocity reigns
       and might
         is right.

                        Here the last
                     can still outlast
                            the first,

                    for even the best
                        can be at his
                             worst,

                   either way it goes,
                      egos burn and
                             burst.

Victor and vanquished
          will stay
      remorseless.

They'll fight again till
     they'll be both
          lifeless.

For to fight and win
   is an unfinished
        business!
