The Bench

A lone wayfarer, searching eyes Tired feet, looking for respite A journey long, waves of heat A bench then falls upon her sight. It rests below a mighty tree Placed by design for those who need The wayfarer sees this paradise Makes her way to the precious retreat It too invites her with open arms For a companion the bench too longs It serves her all its comfort and shade Until it’s time for her to move along The bench then sees the wayfarer go Much like the others had gone before It wipes a tear and looks away As another traveller comes its way.
