The Beast
I received an invitation from the beast
To participate in a very lively feast
Part of me had a feeling it was a trap
But I decided to go as an agreeable chap
The carriage rolled up to my door
I had to wonder what was in store
The moon was the shade of a ruby
But I have to say it was quite a beauty
The beast sat with me and performed tricks
And I could tell it was truly all for kicks
The beast lived not in a mansion of gold
But tarry dared we not in the bitter cold
I was very surprised by the beautiful bounty
Enough food to feed the whole county
As we all indulged I realized I was at peace
And I never wanted the moment to cease
The beast smiled and said I was always welcome
As were any no matter where they came from
And it was at that very lively feast
I learned that the beast was truly no beast
