The Ballad of the Rabbit and the Fox
Come sing the ballad of the fox and the rabbit
A song so in the spirit of Christmas
It is a dark forest they inhabit
Hunger had made the fox ravenous
She trapped the rabbit in her snare
Her teeth bared she was about to spring
The rabbit knew the time was near
Just then from the starlit sky they heard a ting-a-ling
Snowflakes form Santa’s sledge fell on the fox
She heard the bells jingle and music flow
Behind the rabbit she saw the tiny gift box
And the burrow with fairy lights aglow
The sly fox slowly bowed her head
The Christmas spirit curbed her hunger
She let the rabbit go instead
And with happiness her heart grew younger
The predator turned saviour
And took the rabbit home
Her red coat shone with all the splendour
For the time to love and share had come
