The Axe
oftentimes
in dead of night
I lay awake
filled with fright
throat-pinched giggles
loud and clear
cause my heart
to quake with fear
to most that sound, spontaneous
puts at ease, incredulous!
to me its chirp sends
a warning, beware!
funnel clouds are forming
how many lives have snapped
from the tension, defining the word
re-invention!
now they join me in the night
hearing laughter until light
re-invent! reorganize! mantra's cloaked
in corporate lies, when the axe begins to fall
career counselors appear for all!
what's that sound I suddenly hear?
throat-pinched giggles
loud and clear
