The Awe of Easter

God's love often leaves me in awe,
but never before the all encompasing
way it did the day my son died
It honestly felt like I would die, too
from heartbreak and pain
but then.........he wrapped me
in his love and stayed close
He held me up when I could not stand.
He helped me move forward when
I was stuck in shock and pain.

As the Easter season approached,
my grief magnified, as it often does
on special holidays, but this was different
This time, I understood a little better how
a parent feels when their child dies.
I know the degree of pain and the feeling
of part of yourself dying as well.
Knowing that God's son hung on the cross
and was tortured and died
FOR MY SINS, just leaves me amazed that
he would do that FOR ME!
This Easter I am encased in God's love and
eternally grateful for the cross.
God's love is indeed awesome.
