The Awaited Beginning

At the edge of a roaring ravine humanity shivers this year
Wondering how it has reached here with wounded civilizations
Forgetting age old blunders incurred upon the existence of humans

Thriving jealousy, waging wars
Building armory to destroy their own
Caressing destruction by diplomacy
Spilling oil over nature gasping for life
Now Earth retaliates to cleanse itself
Bubbling volcanoes, newborn tornadoes
Novel pandemics, extinction of genes
Humanity struggles to resurface
Through abandoned shades of hope
That retains itself over centuries

Is this the beginning of an apocalypse till the end?
Hope wishes a few might survive to preserve cultures and live on

But hope believes humans will change to create a new world with nobility
This might be the awaited beginning

Do humans at last, understand?

"Now Earth retaliates to cleanse itself" I believe this is exactly what is happening. So glad I am not alone in this.

I believe each one of us should and will tend to think like you do and I hope that is a step towards how we will treat nature in the future. God bless you Caren :)

This are unusual times, that's for sure, and what will come of it is anyone's guess. I tend to be a half-full person and believe it will make us stronger and teach us some important lessons, but I must admit no surety. This is a wonderful write to get the wheels turning on some important questions, and it's going to my faves. Great stuff, Aditi - keep up the great work, my friend! :o) <3

I am glad your thoughts resonate with mine. This is a time when a section of the population will tend to show natural characteristics but it also makes me feel hopeful that perhaps another section will ponder upon the follies of human race and emerge with a new perspective. I hope many think in the same direction. God bless you Greg. Thank you for your blessings :)

I tend to believe it's the beginning of the end, though I hope very much that I am wrong about that. This is really great writing, Aditi!!

Thank you for appreciating Andrea. I really hope that we learn though like you I too fear that this might be the beginning to an end.
