The Autumn of Life
September's smile becomes October's blush
Summer leaves shine with winter's flush
Chill winds wisp with the lisp of rain
Grey skies shadow cold's domain
The sun is shy the night is bold
Days short nature on hold
The earth yawns a sleepy sigh
Readying for winter's lullaby
My dreams mist into the real
Time is still, did time I kill
My life in autumn fears it's winter bitter
The only way I last
Through prayers of my mother's past
Growing old, body worn
Pains of sickness, my mind is torn
Life spins as a fast ride
Slow her down and you die
I keep going into autumn's dusk
Feel the dawn of winter's mighty thrust
I drank the wine of my spring
In winter those songs of yesterday, I sing
Richest of the rich to the poorest of the poor
In death they are dead just the same I'm sure
