The Artist

Drawing before breakfast
	on a torn envelope,
	coffee and cigarettes at hand,
	the artist’s struggles
	led to the usual questions,
	impossible to answer
	except by drawing.

I can relate to this. I just don't smoke. It's like you get more inspired when you are down. Thanks for sharing...... Lucilla

I don't smoke either, but the image seemed right. The rest of it applies to me though. There's a reason for the blues, be they jazz, writing, or painting. Thanks for reading. Jack

Me too! I recently looked at some of my old work, done while I was bottomed out. It was good, If I do say so. Better than what I'm doing these days, that's for sure. I think it's the emotional intensity of the blues. Jack
