The Artist

Told to invent, told to create,
Told to conceptually begin,
To touch all our souls from deep in our heart,
Told to express from within,

And dance and paint and write us a song,
Entertain and nurture our needs,
To feed our desire for beauty and love,
To grow and build on our dreams,

The life of our artist is a life full of give,
To provide a laugh, fear and cry,
We require our artist to prompt our emotions,
To make us all ask ourselves why,

Why is this pleasure with a civil critique,
Why do we feel how we feel,
To highlight the news and comments on life,
And showcase our social ideal.
