The Art of Happiness
A girl seeps into your vision—
Warm, yet crisp,
She dances happiness.
Hand outstretched, she beckons you nearer.
Carefully you reach,
But she is out of grasp,
You reach more and more,
Shoulders tense, back strained, arm pulling against its socket,
Reaching until you cannot reach anymore,
But still,
You cannot reach her.
Her eyes glaze over your body.
You can almost taste Joy on her lips.
She twirls,
Her golden strands silently brushing your cheek,
Again, you push harder and harder to just touch her hand,
But to no avail.
Her outstretched arm still lingering, she turns towards you, defeated.
Desperately, you strain against the force of your own body,
Begging for just one touch.
Her eyes meet yours,
A gleaming smile tugs at the corners of her lips.
Without faltering,
She lowers her hand and dances away into the light,
Taking happiness with her.
