The Apple of My Eye

Most apples don't fall far from the tree Although that's not what happened to me In the blink of an eye I wound up in a pie Just one more tart in a bakery As a dessert I was quite the boss And was peeled with a minimal loss The rest dropped to the floor From the stem to the core Well at least I wasn't applesauce
