The American Dream of the Perfect Woman

Angelic facial features with huge sparkling eyes A perfect youthful dewy complexion Very long silky looking thick hair Red pouty lips moist with bright cherry gloss Long red nails with big sparkling rings A 22-inch waist, with perfect measurements Legs that go on and on, forever, with Perfect feet and toes in spiked heels A very busty hour glass figure.... This air brushed enhanced fantasy woman can be found in most fashion magazines. 5/18/19 This was poem is written to bring attention to teenagers and the perfect body images they are trying to compete with. This has caused self-esteem issues and eating disorders as well as depression and suicidal thoughts. It would be so nice if our society depicted normal healthy realistic women in fashion magazines!

tania, so much media influence bearing on a woman's criterion of what she must look like...a powerful message which strongly reminds us to honor ourselves for who we are... this stigma must stop; i hail you for raising our consciousness... and thanks for your concern... huggs

Tania, this is a message I wish these young people would fully HEAR and understand. I have a cousin who told me none of the "perfect" turkeys on the covers of magazines in November are cooked. They are all RAW turkeys cleverly painted those perfect colors! Who knew? Thank you for writing this reminding me of that. The dangers of society thinking this is the PERFECT woman is sad; making us unhealthy at best.

Well written Tania the 'perfect' women you refer to are a minority and live on lettuce leaves, not really how people are in reality. Young girls especially get taken in by it suffering body issues, mental health issues and some becoming anorexic because of it and even suicides. Tom.

BRAVO Tania for getting the message across so poetically and hear hear to showing women for 'real' with no airbrushing or cosmetic enhancements, the media/ social media/ advertisers have so much to answer for! Its no wonder people suffer from low self esteem when they cannot achieve these looks as they are fake shame so many people are taken in by it:-( hugs Jan xx fave:-)
