The Amazing Boat Ride
‘Twas a day that I will never forget,
My family and I took a boat ride together and it was magnificent!
First we walked towards the boat, splishing and splashing along the shore
We climbed aboard the vessel, to sail upon the sea; adventures to explore.
The engine started and off we went, further and further away from land
Good music blaring, vessel mates staring, couples held each other’s hands.
The cool breeze swayed my long black locs, the sunshine kissed my face
My family members sat and enjoyed the ride, but I wanted to make the boat a more exciting place.
I got up from my seat when I heard one of my favourite songs
Flung myself unto a metal pole and held on strong
I began dancing excitedly and frantically,
All the people on the boat stared and smiled at the sight of me.
My parents laughed, my siblings cheered, my children wanted to join in the fun
The captain shouted, “She is a good leader. Do whatever she does!”
I pranced and jigged and bubbled and twirled; I felt as light as the wind
Oh what a lovely time on the boat, for this moment I have lived.
We reached far out in the sea so wide, it was finally time to snorkel
The boat was anchored, swimmers disembarked, but my stomach started to twinkle
I wanted to see the lovely coral reef, but fear gripped me and said, “Not a chance!”
With all the adventures that came with the boat ride all I could do was just dance.
