The Air of Spring

Present turmoil belies a shift
 In the soul of humanity
While hard we toil, the greatest gift
 Is bestowed for posterity
 A blessing so long awaited.

Those who are thirsty for its wine
 Become the first recipients
 Those who accept lies, satisfied
With half truths, will be defiant
Meanwhile the air of spring rises.

Brilliant, Caroline! Your analysis of how we respond to turmoil is right on target. Those who accept lies cannot be trusted to lead our country to a recovery. This poem can be taken on so many levels that it reminds me how much we've missed your words here on the Soup. Love, Carolyn
