The Age of Perfection

He did not mean to be cocky He did not mean to know everything He was an Adonis, he was Zeus, he was Mighty Mouse, He was twenty She did not mean to be self-assured She did not mean to be the utmost She did not mean to be Wonder Woman or a Goddess But she could not help herself, she was twenty The perfect age to show your stuff To know your stuff To blow your stuff The age of perfectness, twenty. I look back and smile at it.

Adonis, Zeus...Mighty Mouse. I think he was more like Mighty Mouse. lol. But you're so right about that age. They are Immortal gods, or so they think. Just check back with them at 65, eh?! :) gw

I truly Love this poem Caren. You capture the essence of youth without condemning it. And, like you, I miss those days when I knew everything. Thank you for this poem.
