The After Thought Pt 2

She said you’re such an incredible person, and I thought to myself but not for you? She said you’re everything I wanted and I thought, well except the one thing we needed Visualizing the man, you deserve and desiring I could be that man I wish I could explore your mind and pick out all your insecurities She doesn’t want her heart to break because it already has too many cracks She has heard it all before so she doubts when she hears the truth Thoughts tossing and turning in her mind, all she can think about is the thought after the next Thinking love is forever but she questions how long forever is Asking will you love me tomorrow So I respond I will love you to Pluto and back while telling you how beautiful you are each day because I know you deserve that and more She is a queen but often forgets about the crown on her head Second guessing my intentions because of the intentions of another man So I am patient because love is patient until the end She cries saying I don’t deserve you and tells me you’d be perfect for another girl I guess the definition of perfect has changed because I keep falling short, wondering who will pick me up again Who will be the girl to actually mean what she says when she recites “I’d never hurt you.” When will it cease, I keep hearing thank you for being the best as I watch her walk away Pushed behind another guy and to the side of your brain because everything came across as too good to be true A gentleman is what she wanted but had never met so when he came along he was rejected because he was perceived as a scam And when he left she realized her mistake But by then it was too late and this was her after thought p.s. good guy losing because the bad guy cheated…
