Notes About The Poem

The After Christmas Hush

It was one serene December evening.
The dinner dishes done, it was time
for us to put up our feet and rest.

In the valley down below
it was finally peaceful again,
the Christmas rush behind us.

A sigh of relief was heard.
The calm enveloped us,
it was actually palpable.

We knew this was the closest
to blessed peace on earth
as we were ever going to get.

A well deserved period of relaxation indeed ~ usually too short
