The Adventure Called Life

How far we seem to climb
Just to fall down the other side
But we will climb the next mountain
Trying to find where we belong

How deep we dive down
Before we realise we can't breathe
But we will continue to dive
Trying to reach the treasure we crave

How high we fly up
Knowing gravity gravity will drag us back down
But we will stretch our wings again and again
Trying to reach the stars

How many dreams we have
That daily life slowly tramples to death
But we will always dream again
Trying to reach the impossible

How many times we strive to do our best
And beat ourselves up for failing
But we will always try again
Trying to become who we want to be

Why do we keep trying
Why do we keep on hoping?

Because there IS a place we belong
There IS a treasure to be found
The stars ARE there for us
You DO become a better you simply by trying

But it will never be yours if you give up trying
Because it's only in striving for it
That you find the truth
It's through seeking that you learn what you really long for

Without the truth you can never reach it
Because you will never understand why
You will never know what it is you long for
You will never find the truth

So rise up
Dry your eyes
Dust off your knees
Put on a bandage if needed
Shake your fist at the heavens

And say
"I'm not giving up, so what's next"
