The Act of Writing

clickety clack, clickety clack
the sound of busy fingertips 
pulling rhyme and meter of the rack
sailing of many a lyrical ship 

out of the ether, and onto the page 
grinding out eloquence  
describing many an age 
leaving nothing to suspense

telling tales of heroism and common place
human happenings 
juxtaposition of each face   
artist's duty to the gatherings 

painting pictures of the human condition 
war and famine 
all from the edge of perdition  
to Bob Marley Jammin'
