That Wasn'T Chicken

That Wasn’t Chicken

By Elton Camp

Most any unusual meat you can name
“It tastes like chicken,” is the claim

Of both rattlesnake and rabbit too
Eaters have told me that is true

But when I ate in the mall at the Chinese café
“That wasn’t chicken,” fortune cookie did say

I guess surely not, but I still wonder somehow
If it came from one that once said, “Meow.”
